Guyana Audit Office Submits Annual Report on Public Accounts

The Auditor General of Guyana submitted the 22nd annual report on the nation’s public accounts to the Speaker of the National Assembly. The office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, Sherlock Isaacs, was present during the formal presentation. The Audit Office also announced that all overpayments from previous years had been recovered or the contractors had completed their work. The office is now moving toward real-time auditing of state disbursements, including pension payments and public assistance cash grants.

The successful submission marks the 15th consecutive year the Audit Office of Guyana has met its statutory September 30 deadline. This move toward real-time oversight demonstrates the institutional scaling of the Audit Office to match the requirements of Guyana’s expanding national budget.
