Fact-Finding Committee Formed to Review Hydropower Projects in Arunachal Pradesh

The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has constituted a state-level fact-finding committee to examine major hydropower projects in Arunachal Pradesh. The committee, led by president Bosiram Siram, is specifically focused on the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) and ongoing Pre-Feasibility Report activities in Siang and Upper Siang districts. The review will assess the social, environmental, economic, legal, and strategic implications of these projects, including reviewing official records, project documents, and community representations amid protests against proposed drilling activities at Uggeng.

The committee is tasked with evaluating the documentary record regarding MoUs, consultations, and proposed surveys related to the projects. It will also examine the legal and administrative basis for land access, as well as security deployment associated with project activities. The findings will provide a comprehensive review of the projects' viability and their impact on the state.
