Golden Gate Ferry Service Area Advisory Board Discusses Dredging Tax Vote

An advisory board meeting was held in Novato to discuss the needs of the Golden Gate Ferry service area, including waterfront dredging requirements. The board focused on a referendum allowing voters in the Paradise Cay neighborhood to extend and increase a dredging tax via Measure Z. This measure would raise the parcel tax from $1,900 to $2,200, with annual increases of up to 3% for 10 years.

The tax increase is intended to fund ongoing maintenance dredging in the principal waterways of Paradise Cay and the entry channels to San Francisco Bay. The board chair warned that regular dredging is necessary to prevent the decline seen in other areas, such as the former boating community of Bahia.
