Daisy Cooper Unveils Growth Plan to Mitigate Brexit Economic Damage

Daisy Cooper, the Liberal Democrat party's Treasury spokesperson, announced a detailed growth plan aimed at mitigating economic damage caused by Brexit to the UK economy. The plan, which she outlined to the Lib Dem conference in Brighton, calls for a new Growth and Defence Partnership with the EU to reverse the damage, which she claimed costs the UK £90bn a year in lost tax revenue. Cooper also proposed creating a digital one-stop-shop service for businesses and investors, combining tax, regulatory, legal, and general business services. This service would be housed within a new Department for Growth to simplify red tape for small and medium-sized businesses.

The proposals detail specific policy ideas intended to encourage business investment and innovation within the UK. The plan suggests that too many ideas, start-ups, and research started in Britain but ended up scaling up overseas. The proposals also included a separate plan to cut fuel duty by 10p a litre for a fixed three-month period.
