Sunshine Silver plans to double mill capacity for Idaho mine restart
What happened
Sunshine Silver is designing a mill with roughly twice the capacity of its initial mine plan. The proposed plant would process up to 2,000 tonnes a day, compared with 1,000 tonnes in the initial assessment. CFO Heather White discussed this plan at the Mining Forum Americas in Colorado, noting the mine is located near Kellogg in Idaho’s Silver Valley.

Why it matters
The expansion is intended to provide room for increased output as drilling expands and upgrades the resource, supporting a targeted late-2028 restart. Next year’s feasibility studies must determine if the mine can support the higher throughput and how much additional funding is required for the operation.
