China revises national standard for used vehicle appraisal

The China Automobile Dealers Association convened a seminar in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, on September 15, 2026, to discuss revising the national standard for used vehicle appraisal. The goal is to unify industry benchmarks and bring them closer to market realities. A draft of the revised standard is slated for completion by the end of the year, with full industry rollout expected next year.

The revision addresses shortcomings in the current 2013 standard, particularly concerning used car exports, judicial disposals, and the appraisal of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). The updated criteria will introduce specific standards for NEV components and shift appraisal methods toward a holistic evaluation of damage severity and repair quality.
