Bauchi Assembly Urges State Government on Critical Infrastructure Development

The Bauchi State House of Assembly called on the state government to urgently construct a specific road project in the Duguri/Gwana Constituency of the Alkaleri Local Government Area. The Assembly made the call during plenary on Tuesday, led by a motion sponsored by the member representing that constituency. The road, which is approximately 17 kilometers long, connects several densely populated agrarian communities whose residents rely heavily on crop production and livestock rearing. Lawmakers stated that the poor condition of the road has increased transportation costs, contributed to post-harvest losses, and hindered residents’ access to essential services like markets and healthcare facilities.

The lack of proper infrastructure is cited as a factor that constrains commercial activities and discourages investment in the region. The Assembly argued that the neglect of this corridor contributes to rural poverty despite the economic potential of the communities involved. The call emphasizes the need for the state government to address the infrastructure deficit to support the economic viability of the region.
