What happened
Payment issues have arisen regarding road construction projects in the Far North region of Cameroon, which were financed through an African Development Bank loan agreement. The AfDB loan agreement closed on December 31, 2024, but invoices corresponding to the Bank’s contribution have gone unpaid since January 2025. The AfDB finances 85% of the project expenditures, with the Cameroonian government covering the remaining 15%.
