Rising Costs and Funding Gaps Challenge Affordable Housing in Fresno County

Affordable housing developers in Fresno County are facing operational challenges and funding gaps for their projects. Tyrone Roderick Williams, CEO of Fresno Housing, stated that rising construction costs, funding gaps, and complex financing continue to challenge affordable housing developers. Fresno Housing owns more than 5,000 units across Fresno County and serves over 11,000 households through its Housing Choice Voucher program.

Fresno Housing noted that the need for housing far outpaces available resources. This challenge is occurring as California changes how housing funding is coordinated, impacting the ability of developers to increase affordable housing production.
