East Windsor High School infrastructure requires major capital planning

An infrared evaluation determined that East Windsor High School’s roof may have only about three years of useful life remaining, according to a school construction update. This finding is accelerating discussions about replacing the aging school with a combined middle-high school campus. The existing high school, which is over 70 years old, also has issues with its walls, windows, floors, and HVAC system. A district analysis determined that building a new school may be more cost-effective than renovating the current building to meet state standards.

The need for major capital investment in school infrastructure impacts local government planning and construction costs. Officials have asked Construction Solutions Group to revise cost estimates and calculate potential savings from reducing the district’s building space.
