What happened
Allegheny County is part of a purchasing alliance coordinated by SHACOG to secure winter road salt for the region. The alliance requires 114,000 tons of salt for the municipalities in the Pittsburgh area. For the current winter, the alliance received bids from four major salt suppliers, but only one responded.
