Amazon gains council approval for new, smaller warehouse facility in Middletown
What happened
Middletown council unanimously approved a revised plan for a new Amazon warehouse facility located off Middle Neck Road. The developer, Bluewater Property Group, stated the new facility would be smaller than the previous proposal, consisting of two stories at 52 feet. The total building area is approximately 1.95 million square feet.

Why it matters
The project is expected to provide economic benefits to the town, including an assessed value of over $90 million to the tax base. The facility is projected to create at least 500 permanent full-time jobs at an average wage of $22.50 per hour, alongside more than 300 construction jobs.
