What happened
The Honnekodige lift irrigation scheme in Narasimharajapura taluk remains stalled because the forest department has not granted permission to lay a pipeline through forest land in the area of Chikkamagaluru. The project is intended to irrigate 1,200 acres, but work stopped because forest clearance is required for a pipeline segment spanning 1.7 hectares between the Bhadra backwaters and an overhead tank for Saluru. The scheme was sanctioned by the government for Rs 3.5 crore in 2008.
