Kathmandu-Madhesh Expressway Construction Faces Land Disputes and Delays
What happened
The Kathmandu–Terai/Madhesh Expressway, which aims to reduce travel time between Kathmandu and the Madhesh region, is proceeding with construction up to Khokana. However, work in the Dukuchhap–Pharsidol–Khokana section has stalled because local residents refused to agree to land acquisition. The Ministry of Infrastructure Development authorized the Nepal Army to build the road up to Khokana. To address the delays, the ministry approved splitting the 6.5-kilometer section into two contract packages.
