Study Reveals Significant Wage Gap for Indigenous Workers in Australia
What happened
A study titled *Towards Indigenous Pay Parity* found a significant wage disparity between Indigenous and other Australian workers. The researchers used linked data from the Australian Taxation Office and the 2021 Census to examine pay across 227 occupational categories. The findings showed that Indigenous workers earn an average of 84 cents for every dollar earned by other Australian workers, equating to a $3 billion annual shortfall in wages.
