What happened
Baker Hughes signed two agreements with PDVSA to expand natural gas and energy infrastructure in Venezuela. The partnership also includes Lindsayca and Fulcrum LNG. Initially, the partners will identify infrastructure upgrades needed to meet PDVSA’s domestic gas requirements, including supplies for electricity generation. Over the longer term, the companies plan to evaluate financing for new midstream and LNG infrastructure, which could enable future LNG exports.

Why it matters
The alliance aims to create an integrated gas value chain capable of turning Venezuela’s substantial gas resources into reliable domestic supplies and future export opportunities. The agreement is a cooperation framework, and any individual projects would require separate commitments.
