Bolla Seeks Special Use Permit for New Market and Tim Hortons in New Hyde Park

The North Hempstead Town Board considered plans for a new Bolla Market and gasoline station in New Hyde Park, approving honorary street designations during a public hearing on September 15. Bolla M Realty LLC applied for a special use permit to redevelop the existing station at 901 Hillside Ave. at Lakeville Road. Bolla stated it plans to demolish the current facility and construct a new station with a 1,250-square-foot convenience store, a Bolla Market, and a Tim Hortons location. During the hearing, David Altman, chief general counsel for Bolla, noted that the applicant reduced the proposed free-standing sign to 18 feet and 60.1 square feet following discussions with the Board of Zoning Appeals.

The project involves the redevelopment of a long-standing commercial site into a modern service station. The new facility will feature a convenience store and a Tim Hortons presence, adding retail components to the area. Town officials raised questions regarding the lighting aspects of the proposed project.
