What happened
Cambodia granted media organizations access to a massive former online scam compound in Prey Veng province, which authorities say was part of the conference preparations. The site, known as “No. 8 Park” or Meun Chey Commercial Center, covers approximately 120 hectares and was capable of housing around 20,000 people. The complex includes residential blocks, offices, a market, shops, and a casino at its center.

The tour provided journalists with evidence of sophisticated online scams that were recently carried out by the compound’s huge staff of trafficked workers. Authorities stated that the raid on the complex occurred in February, based on information from China’s Ministry of Public Security and the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy in Cambodia is currently managing sand extraction licenses and addressing a specific dispute in the Prey Veng area.
