Imperial City Council Approves Sales Tax Fund Renewal Vote
What happened
The city council in Imperial approved the sales tax funds. Voters in Imperial will decide on three related sales tax questions during the General Election on November 4. These questions include renewing the current 1 percent sales tax, adding an additional 0.05 percent, and renewing the economic development plan.
Why it matters
The city sales tax receipts are split equally between the Community Improvement Fund and the Economic Development Fund. The economic development plan must pass for either sales tax proposition to be implemented.
