What happened
Continuous rain has disrupted coal supplies to four coal-based thermal power plants in Bokaro district, forcing them to operate on limited or emergency stocks. Bokaro Power Supply Company Ltd (BPSCL), which is jointly run by SAIL and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), is affected by the shortages. The plants primarily receive coal from Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL), which draws from rain-hit coal belts in Bokaro, Ramgarh, and Dhanbad. For example, Tarun Kapoor noted that TTPS is receiving only about one-fifth of its required daily coal volume.
