McLean County Sales Tax Revenue Supports School Services and Property Tax Relief
What happened
The County School Facilities Tax (CSFT) was approved by McLean County voters in April 2025, adding a tax on goods such as retail products, fuel, and online purchases when it took effect in July. This revenue is distributed by the Regional Office of Education. Unit 5, the largest district in McLean County, receives over $1 million monthly from this sales tax revenue. The district has been using the funds for property tax abatement, which has resulted in significant savings for homeowners.
