Congresswoman Pingree demands Prime Health end nurse intimidation
What happened
Maine Congresswoman Chellie Pingree and a fellow Democrat from Illinois sent a letter to Prime Healthcare Chairman and CEO Prem Reddy. The letter demanded that Prime Health end what they called “intimidation” and “retaliation” against nurses engaged in union activity. Prime Health has suspended or fired nurses at several hospitals, including Central Maine Medical Center and Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital. Prime Health stated that these terminations were due to severe infractions, such as patient abandonment and safety violations, and were not connected to union activity.
