Global South Leaders Urge Cooperation on Geopolitical and Economic Challenges

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called upon Global South countries to cooperate on various global challenges during a meeting held on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly. Jaishankar noted that the global situation is marked by rising conflicts, mounting pressure on supply chains and trade, and fragmenting investment flows. He stressed the need to address growing debt vulnerabilities, inadequate development finance, and intensifying climate shocks.

The calls emphasized the need for Global South nations to work together on issues including finance, connectivity, and supply chain bottlenecks. Furthermore, Jaishankar called for efforts to prevent the manipulation of energy availability and prices and to promote fair economic and trade practices.
