Kyrgyzstan and Russia Discuss Agro-Industrial Cooperation and Trade Targets

Erlis Akunbekov, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, met with Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, in St. Petersburg. The discussions focused on cooperation between the two countries in the agro-industrial sector. The parties noted that the mutual trade turnover of agricultural and processed products reached $652.3 million in 2025, an increase of $88.5 million from 2024. Akunbekov proposed new projects for fisheries and agricultural product processing, aiming to increase the volume of Kyrgyz goods supplied to the Russian market. The meeting concluded with a decision to develop joint roadmaps for fisheries projects.

The talks centered on transitioning the relationship from simple trade to integrated production. The goal is to establish joint processing enterprises and develop necessary infrastructure to support increased trade volumes between the two nations. This cooperation could affect the core business strategies of the involved governments.
