Eastwood Homes Seeks Rezoning for 147-Home Development in Berkeley County

Eastwood Homes is seeking approval for a large-scale residential development of 147 homes on approximately 250 acres in Berkeley County, South Carolina. The company is asking to rezone the land from Agricultural Flex-1 to the Agricultural Flex Conservation district. The proposal, which concentrates the homes on about 90 acres, is currently before the Planning Commission after being deferred last month. A required traffic impact analysis is underway, utilizing data from the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

The rezoning proposal is critical for the viability of the housing project. The development is situated near Highway 402, and the study is needed due to increased average daily traffic in the area. County officials stated the impact study must be reviewed by both county engineers and the South Carolina Department of Transportation before the matter reaches a final vote by the Berkeley County Council.
