Why it matters
The deal enables Eneco to supply all its residential and small business customers in the Netherlands with Norwegian gas. Equinor stated that the gas supplied under the contract has a lifecycle greenhouse gas footprint 11.8% lower than the average gas supplied through the Dutch grid.
Equinor aims to maintain reliable energy supplies to Europe through operations in the North Sea on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
