Lovero Suspends Use of Flock Surveillance Program via Executive Order

Mayor Robert J. Lovero of Berwyn issued an executive order on September 22, 2026, calling for the immediate suspension of the city police’s use of Flock cameras and preventing city employees from accessing the stored network data. The order is set to remain in place through June 2028, coinciding with the conclusion of the city’s five-year contract with Flock. Lovero stated that the city’s legal department and counsel would review the contract and related state grant criteria moving forward.

The suspension follows an internal audit conducted alongside police administration, which found no issues or inconsistencies in how the technology was used by Berwyn police. Lovero attributed the decision, which the city described as proactive, partly to requests from residents seeking discontinuation of the camera use.
