Israel Approves Nearly $5 Billion in Defense and War Program Funding

The Knesset Finance Committee approved the transfer of nearly NIS 15 billion, approximately $5 billion, to support Israel’s Defense Ministry and Israel Defense Forces budgets for the remainder of the year. This included moving NIS 11.75 billion from the government’s general reserve to the Defense Ministry, along with NIS 3 billion from other defense and transportation budgets. Additionally, NIS 630 million was approved to strengthen the Compensation Fund for businesses affected by the conflict with Iran.

These transfers represent a major injection of government funding into Israel’s defense establishment and war-related economic programs amid continuing regional conflicts. The funding also included NIS 164 million for National Insurance payments to workers placed on unpaid leave during Operation Roaring Lion.
