Torrential Rains Cause Severe Flooding in Delta State Local Government Areas

Heavy flooding has affected several homes and business premises in Warri South, Uvwie, and Udu local government areas of Delta State following torrential rains that began on Monday and Tuesday. The flooding was particularly severe along Okere Road in Warri, where residential apartments and business premises were inundated. Business owners reported losses, including a salon operator who lost N2 million worth of customer work and a generator that was destroyed after floodwater entered the shop.

The rising floodwaters disrupted commerce and infrastructure across the affected local government areas. Residents noted that the severity of the situation was linked to blocked canals that were meant to evacuate rainwater. The flooding also led to the temporary closure of some public schools in Udu local government area.
