Garda Síochána Management Disputes Lead to Planned Industrial Action

The Garda Representative Association (GRA) announced plans for industrial action scheduled to take place over five days in October. The action is a protest against what the GRA describes as intolerable treatment of its members by Garda management. The GRA Central Executive Committee met in Athlone to discuss the escalation, which follows a discipline threat made against a senior GRA body member.

The dispute centers on a senior GRA member who was reportedly under assessment for speaking publicly about issues such as a lack of pursuit driving training and scooter legislation. The potential industrial action could impact the operational capacity of the police service.
