What happened
Heras is closing off sections of the East Kilbride shopping centre using fencing. The centre, which is Scotland’s largest indoor mall, has areas sealed off and parts of the Centre West section awaiting demolition. Apart from Nando's and Tony Macaroni Express, many surrounding restaurant units in the mall are currently empty.

Why it matters
The sealing off of retail space and the ongoing demolition process indicate a decline in the centre's commercial viability. This physical change affects the local retail environment and the operational scope of remaining businesses.
