China's Electricity Consumption Exceeds 1 Trillion kWh Again in August

In August, China's electricity consumption totaled 1.0332 trillion kilowatt-hours (kWh), marking a record high for the month. This volume, which rose 1.7 percent year on year, caused the electricity load to hit a record high of 1.56 billion kilowatts, exceeding the previous year's maximum on seven days. The National Energy Administration reported that the secondary and tertiary industries were the main drivers of this growth.

The consumption growth was fueled by the secondary and tertiary industries, with the tertiary sector increasing 5.1 percent year on year. Within manufacturing, high-tech and equipment manufacturing showed rapid growth, while consumer goods manufacturing was the second-largest positive contributor to overall manufacturing electricity demand.
