JBS Northern chief operating officer Brendan Tatt noted that fuel distributors had previously stopped deliveries to Riverina and Prime City following the Strait of Hormuz closure, affecting approximately 80,000 cattle on feed. The Australian Lot Feeders’ Association president, Grant Garey, stated that recent shocks, such as the fuel crisis, necessitate policy to guarantee industry access to key inputs during peacetime.
