Job Fairs in Edinburgh and Musselburgh Connect Seekers with Employers

A series of job fairs were held in Edinburgh and Musselburgh, bringing together job seekers and employers from the region. Over 300 local people attended the event, which featured 18 local and national employers, including NHS Lothian and ZOT Engineering. The gatherings are noted as crucial for supporting the local economies of Musselburgh and Edinburgh. Separately, an MP has been lobbying for the Prime Minister's promises of economic growth.

The job fairs are seen as vital for placing people into stable and well-paid roles, which supports the local economies of Musselburgh and Edinburgh. The issue of youth unemployment remains prominent, with 2.1 per cent of young people in Edinburgh East and Musselburgh currently not in employment or education. The UK Labour Government has also announced the 'Opening Shift' programme, which aims to deliver 11,000 retail work placements for 18-24-year-olds, supported by companies such as Tesco, John Lewis, and Boots.
