Ministry of Agriculture reviews request to cancel livestock operation permit

The Friends of Lac Pelletier submitted a request to the Ministry of Agriculture asking it to cancel an Intensive Livestock Operation permit issued to Monette Farms in 2024. The petition, submitted by Kane, argues that cancellation is warranted based on a third-party engineering report and an order from the Rural Municipality of Lac Pelletier No. 107 requiring Monette Farms to address zoning bylaw contraventions.

The Ministry of Agriculture is reviewing the request to invoke section 24 of the Agricultural Operations Act, which authorizes the Minister to suspend or cancel the approval of an ILO. Monette Farms stated that it disagrees with the alleged contraventions and hopes to resolve the issue with the Rural Municipality of Lac Pelletier.
