Kazakhstan Discusses Strategic Energy and Tech Cooperation with International Investors
What happened
Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held meetings in Almaty regarding cooperation in energy, digitalization, and finance. The discussions took place with executives from Hong Kong Sino-Science Oil and Gas, VNET Group, Shanghai Junhe Atomic Technology, and Silk Road Finance Corporation, on the sidelines of the Kazakhstan-China Investment Forum. Tokayev noted that leading Chinese companies demonstrated confidence in Kazakhstan, which he said was developing its comprehensive strategic partnership with China at an unprecedented pace.

The talks focused on jointly implementing projects with deeper technological and industrial content. During the meeting, Sheng Chen, executive chairman of VNET Group, expressed interest in creating a large-scale data center cluster and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Tokayev also noted that Hong Kong Sino-Science Oil and Gas had invested over $3 billion in Kazakhstan.
The International Atomic Energy Agency is cooperating with the China National Nuclear Corporation on advanced nuclear technology.
