South Korea Commits Sh120 Billion to Support Kenyan Development Goals
What happened
South Korea agreed to support Kenya’s development programs by committing Sh120 billion (US 1 billion dollars) to various projects. The funds are designated for sectors including Agriculture, ICT, Health, Energy, Infrastructure, Education, affordable housing, and urban transport. The agreement was signed on November 23, 2022, at the Yongsan Presidential Office in Seoul, South Korea.

Why it matters
The aid package is intended to stimulate economic development through manufacturing, agro-processing, and value addition in Kenya. The cooperation also includes developing special economic zones (SEZs) in locations such as Dongo Kundu, Lamu, Naivasha, Athi River, and Sagana.
