Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation manages relief efforts following cyclone

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation intensified relief and restoration work in Visakhapatnam after a cyclonic system crossed the coast and heavy rain continued. Commissioner Ketan Garg directed officials to clear waterlogged roads, drains, and remove fallen trees and collapsed structures. The corporation received 143 rain-related complaints, resolving 140, and addressed 89 tree-fall incidents and 15 drain-overflow cases.

The ongoing crisis requires significant municipal resource allocation to restore critical infrastructure, including roads, drainage, and power supply. The scale of the damage and the need for round-the-clock relief operations place immediate operational stress on the local economy.
