Kongsberg to build counter-drone factory in Poland
What happened
Kongsberg announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in the Pomeranian region of Poland, near the Tri-City area. The facility will produce and maintain counter-unmanned aerial systems (CUAS) for Poland’s SAN programme. The investment is estimated at over PLN 200 million, and it is expected to create more than 100 jobs once at full capacity. Serial production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2028.

Why it matters
The new factory follows a contract Kongsberg signed earlier this year with PGZ Naval Shipyard for counter-drone systems. Kongsberg stated that the facility will support Polish industry and defense capabilities and strengthen its global manufacturing network. This represents a significant foreign direct investment in Polish defense technology.
