Liberia regulators and oil palm companies form joint technical committee

The Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA) and major oil palm concessionaires agreed to establish a six-member joint technical committee. This mechanism was created following a high-level dialogue on September 23, 2026, between LACRA officials and representatives of major oil palm companies under the Liberia Agriculture Concession Association (LACA). The committee will review the regulatory framework governing the oil palm sector, focusing on royalty obligations, quality control, regulatory compliance, and export requirements.

The agreement aims to resolve regulatory concerns and improve cooperation within Liberia’s key agricultural sector. By bringing regulators and operators together, the parties seek to develop practical solutions to operational challenges affecting the oil palm industry.

Farmers are appealing to the central government for support regarding various issues concerning oil palm production.
