Indonesia reviews funding policy for state universities
What happened
The finance ministry in Indonesia is calculating the standard financing requirements for students at state universities, taking into account the conditions and needs of each institution. The ministry is also evaluating existing higher education assistance schemes, including the Smart Indonesia Card program. The results of this review will be submitted to Prabowo Subianto to determine if the policy is implemented immediately or phased in across 2027, 2028, and 2029.
