Mercy Medical Transportation Faces Criticism Over Tuolumne County Service Transition

Mercy Medical Transportation, the new ambulance contractor for Tuolumne County, is facing criticism regarding its management of the emergency medical services transition. A former employee and a current employee, Justice Gilbert, spoke to the county Board of Supervisors about the issues. They contend that Mercy has alienated experienced EMS staff, leading to the departures of at least nine employees. Gilbert and the other critic, Alex Henderson, now work full-time for Oak Valley Ambulance.

The criticism centers on the company's management of the services it took over from Manteca District Ambulance on July 1. The county's contracted ambulance provider is reportedly understaffed with low morale due to the staff turnover.
