John Mason named new town administrator for Easthampton

The Select Board voted 4-1 to name John Mason as the new town administrator for Easthampton. Mason was selected from a pool of candidates, including Allison Schmitt, executive director for Entrepreneurship for All. Mason brings 20 years of municipal government experience, including 17 years as director of Parks and Recreation in Easthampton.

The appointment places a long-time municipal official in a key administrative role. Mason's background includes managing state and federal grants and overseeing budgets in Easthampton, as well as turning around the finances of a Boys & Girls Club near Boston. This experience relates to local government financial management.
