New Haven Union Station to be Transformed into World-Class Hub

Justin Elicker announced plans to transform Union Station into a world-class transportation hub through extensive renovations to the historic facility. The upgrades, which serve nearly 4 million passengers annually, include a new wellness room, a central atrium bar and café, and a mezzanine-level bar and lounge area. The project will feature thirteen new retail spaces, allowing local businesses to establish a presence inside the station. State funding of $24.8 million was announced for the interior improvements, which include new retail space and restrooms.

The ambitious overhaul of Union Station is part of a larger urban renewal project for New Haven. The upgrades aim to encourage more people to choose rail travel by making the station a destination in its own right. The project is overseen by the Connecticut Department of Transportation and involves multiple phases of investment.
