Oviedo and Longwood City Councils Vote on Budgets Amid Tax Rate Discussions

Leaders in Oviedo and Longwood are scheduled to vote on their upcoming budgets, which are set to take effect October 1. For Oviedo, the proposed millage rate would remain at 5.6692 mills, meaning no increase in the amount of money collected by the city this year. In Longwood, leaders will vote on a 5.78% tax-rate increase over the rollback rate, though the millage will not exceed the rate set over a decade ago.

The budget votes are taking place amid concerns about potential funding decreases should a constitutional amendment pass. The amendment would increase the homestead exemption for primary residences starting at $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028.
