Mexico Acquires Super Hercules for Venezuelan Disaster Relief

The Fuerza Aérea Mexicana announced the acquisition of a second Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifter on September 23, 2026. This addition follows a previous acquisition announced in January 2026, making Mexico the first nation in Latin America to join the global Super Hercules fleet. The aircraft is a stretch variant offering increased power, range, fuel efficiency, and payload capacity. The first aircraft was recently employed to deliver emergency supplies and medical aid to the disaster area in Venezuela.

The acquisition bolsters Lockheed Martin's presence in the global defense and aerospace market. The expanded capability allows the Mexican Air Force to sustain its response to critical needs, such as those faced in Venezuela.
