Microsoft Plans to Double Data Centers in Taiwan to Meet Demand

Microsoft Corp plans to double its data centers in Taiwan, increasing facilities from two to four. Microsoft Taiwan general manager Sean Pien stated that demand has consistently outstripped supply over the past two to three years, a situation expected to continue. The new sites will primarily be located in northern Taiwan.

The expansion is driven by a computing capacity shortage that affects not only processing units but also power supply and space allocation. Microsoft stated that continued expansion of global computing capacity is a clear priority to balance revenue growth and customer demand. Taiwan's supply chain is noted as a key beneficiary of the global race to expand computing capacity.
