Minnesota Agencies Coordinate Efforts to Combat Medicaid Fraud

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading a coordinating council with the Minnesota Department of Human Services to address fraud in the state's Medicaid program. The work began over three years ago, involving an analysis of individuals connected to the Feeding Our Future fraud case. During this review, the department identified connections to various Medicaid service providers and took action to disqualify them from receiving public funds. Furthermore, the department designated autism services and Housing Stabilization Services as high-risk, with a plan developed in 2024 to visit every autism provider.

The coordinated efforts are focused on protecting Medical Assistance from waste, fraud, and abuse. The review process involved a broader look at various Medicaid services to identify vulnerabilities. The program integrity issues are being addressed through ongoing investigations and heightened scrutiny of service providers.
