Monique Ryan Condemns Coalition's Climate and Energy Plan

Independent Member Monique Ryan criticized the Coalition's latest climate and energy plan, stating it was a reckless attempt to unwind Australia's clean energy transition. Ryan warned that the plan could drive up household power bills, undermine energy security, and reduce investor confidence. The criticism was made while Australia was hosting COP31 in Türkiye, where renewable energy sources supplied 80 per cent of the main electricity grid's demand.

Ryan argued that the Coalition's proposal represented a direct attack on policies that had helped millions of households lower energy bills and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. She suggested the plan was a desperate climate denial that would drag the country backward by appeasing specific voters.
