Coimbatore MSMEs Seek IGST Tax Relief for Export Casting Inputs

The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) has formally requested Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) relief for moulds, dies, and patterns used by Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) to manufacture export castings. The association president explained the GST-related compliance challenges faced by these MSMEs during discussions held in New Delhi with officials from the Union Ministry of MSMEs. CODISSIA also submitted a memorandum containing suggestions aimed at improving the ease of doing business for MSMEs.

The request targets a specific tax provision within the IGST structure to facilitate international trade for small businesses. The discussions also covered how MSME units in Coimbatore could participate in international exhibitions. The outcome of these talks could influence trade policy affecting the manufacturing sector.
